Booking a Newborn Session!

Below you will find all the information you require for booking a newborn session with me and tips on when to book etc.

When to Schedule a Newborn Session!

The answer? Right away! If you are pregnant, then message me as soon as you are able to schedule a newborn session, as the best to book is before your baby is here, Ideally just after your 20 week scan.  Please let me know what your due date once you get into contact and we will book a session in when baby is between 5 and 14 days new. I know that babies come in their own time (unless you have other arrangements like a cesarean or plan to be induced) but I am flexible enough where I can move my days around, if needed. I would love to get you pencilled in. I only take limited  amount of sessions each week to accommodate early and late babies so booking early is best. If you have already given birth and have only just found out about Joanna Cleeve Photography please still contact me as I may be able to squeeze you in! 🙂

Where is the session held?

Sessions are held at my studio in Midhurst, West Sussex, UK where I have a large selection of props, backdrops & outfits for your newborn.

What happens if I book a newborn session and baby decides to make an appearance early or late?

That is absolutely fine as I know that babies arrive when they want to so I always give priority to my booked in advance newborn sessions. As long as you let me know as soon as baby arrives, I can make sure I have a date free for you within the first 14 days.

What to Expect

About Newborn Session!

My Newborn sessions are 1 hour 30 minutes for one baby or up to 2 hours for twin newborns. Sometimes sessions may run over a bit depending on feeding etc so please allow extra time. When you arrive at your session, I will have the studio set up to start with the posed shots of just baby on the beanbag then I do the props. I do all the family and sibling shots at the end after the posed ones of just baby.

Who can come to the session?

For newborn sessions it works well to have Mum with one other person, preferably Dad so I can incorporate some family shots which are included with every newborn standard if you choose to have them as I believe these are also special memories to capture with your new baby at such a new age. Siblings are also welcome to join for the session.

Preparation!

A few tips to help your Newborn session go as smoothly as possible..

-If possible bring baby only in a baby grow with no vest underneath, this makes it easier for starting the session straight away if your baby is asleep on arrival.

– No socks to be put on the baby please, to avoid marks on your babies legs.

– If possible try to feed baby before arrival to studio and bring along plenty of spare milk if applicable, and we are breastfeeding friendly.

Newborn & Baby Props!

The studio is fully kitted out with many newborn props. From wooden bowels, crates, vintage props, fluffs, blankets, to headbands, delicate hats, outfits for both boys and girls and wraps. Your welcome to choose which outfits you prefer for session on arrival and any wrap colour too. Prior to session you can choose beanbag backdrop colour if you have a colour scheme in mind.

How do I select my final images I receive and any extras?

You will be contacted for a zoom screenshare viewing 2-3 weeks after your session depending on time of year to choose which photographs you would like me to professionally edit that you receive and have the opportunity to purchase any extras at the same time. I will do a basic edit on all the photos I cull and professionally edit one in full for an example for you to choose the ones you would like me to professionally edit that you purchase. After you’ve had your viewing I will edit your chosen photographs that you purchase and have them ready in 2-3 weeks from the date of your private viewing. I will email you your purchased digital files over. Once your photos are ready the 7″x5″ prints you receive will be ready within 14-21 days for collection or be posted out. If you choose at your zoom screenshare viewing or afterwards to purchase a USB (with some digital files or full gallery) this will be posted out to you with your prints ready with 14-21 days.
