Where will we take our family portraits?
I both studio (upto 5 people) and outside (1-5+ people) family portrait sessions. I love working outside and in studio, but especially love capturing little kids reactions outside, because they have room to play, run, and be themselves. For those reasons, I encourage you to think of having an outdoor session which I normally do near Felpham (Bognor Regis) or in Midhurst. (Newborn portraits, are always done inside my studio with professional lighting, backgrounds, props and newborn (under 9lbs baby outfits.) Maternity sessions can take place either outside or in my studio in Midhurst (prices vary on studio or outside).
What should we wear?
First and foremost, you should be comfortable! For both outdoor family portrait sessions and in my studio I normally recommend neutral colours with plain clothing with no patterns or logos. As little kids are normally fairly active comfy clothing, as I expect that the kids may run around and get a little dirty, as a family you may need to sit on the ground, and we may do some walking around. Comfort is paramount to make sure that you can relax and be yourself in front of the camera.
What geographical areas do you serve?
I do most my family portrait sessions either in my studio or outside near Felpham (Bognor Regis) or in Midhurst. Locations outside of Felpham (Bognor Regis) or Midhurst are subject to a travel fee depending on location.
We are looking for a mixture of candid and posed family photos. Can you do both?
Always. My visual storytelling style leans toward a candid approach (the kids being hilarious, the dog licking your face), but posed family photographs, where everyone is smiling and looking at the camera, are also treasured keepsakes. We find a way to work both into our session.
When will our photos be ready, and how many will we receive?
My process is a little different from other photographers because I don’t just send you a link to digital files and abandon you! You will be invited to a viewing at my studio around 4-6 weeks after your session depending on time of year to choose which photographs you receive and have the opportunity to purchase any extras at the same time for a special promotional price available at viewing only. At the viewing you can take your chosen prints away with you same day in 7″x5″ unmounted unless your purchase the mounts but if you had an online gallery the prints will be unmounted you receive included will be ready within 14 days for collection or be posted out. If you choose at your in person viewing to purchase a USB (with some digital files or full gallery) this will be ready same day and I will arrange it for you whilst you are here but alternately if you receive an online gallery and if you decide to purchase a USB or additional prints these will also be available within 14 days after payment has been received. Once you place your order for any extra prints, albums, or matching digital files, everything is delivered to you within a few weeks.
If you are unable to attend a viewing you’ll receive an online gallery that will remain live for 48 hours before expiring for you to choose your choices any extras you may like to purchase also. After you’ve been to your viewing I will email you your purchased digital files over or alternately if you had an online gallery one I have your order I will email you your choices.
Can we bring along the family pet?
Sure for outside sessions only! I don’t allow them in my studio sorry due to photographing newborn babies.
Pets are totally family members! Let’s just make sure they’re groomed, well behaved, and on a leash. Bring plenty of treats and a few chew toys, to be safe.
My in-laws will be in town during our session. Can we do a few pictures with them?
Of course. All my packages include up to 5 people who can be involved in our portrait session with any additional people charged at £10 each. Portrait sessions last only one hour (if that package is booked) or 30 minutes with my smaller package, however, so we have to be realistic. If you’d like to do multiple family combinations, I can help you come up with a list of photos that we can accomplish in one hour.
