It’s amazing to capture the details of baby and how fresh and new they look. There’s nothing quite like it.

Full of raw emotions, tiredness and love, the first couple of days can be a blur. But I would like you to remember you as brand new parents, and remember how it felt to look at your brand new baby. If you have older siblings, introducing them to their new sibling is a defining moment we can also capture. Your fresh 48 session takes place within 12 – 48 hours of baby’s arrival at the place of delivery – be that hospital or home.

A Fresh 48 shoot is perfect for remembering those first few days forever.

Where & when does it happen?

Fresh 48 sessions take place within 12 – 48 hours of baby’s arrival, at the place of delivery (hospital, home, or birthing centre).

What can I expect to see?

I will capture how fresh and new baby looks and record all their tiny details. Their yawns, newborn expressions, tiny  feet and fingers and first feedings – these all change so swiftly in the first weeks whilst you’re busy being parents.

If you have older children, or extended family visiting, I can capture them meeting baby for the first time. We also want to take some time for intimate photos of you and your new baby.

All photography is done in natural-light in a lifestyle documentary style with no posing, props or lights. This is not a posed newborn photography shoot with beanbags and blankets which you may have seen on my website from my newborn studio photography, but a much more natural and authentic approach telling the story of the very start of baby’s life.

How do we schedule the shoot?

As with birth photography, you usually won’t know when baby is going to arrive. So I designate an on-call period for your shoot, starting 2 weeks before your estimated due date.  During this time I organise my diary so that I have time available each day for your shoot when it required (unless I’m photographing a wedding the day baby arrives so will come the next day).

What I need from you is just a text – from you or your partner – when labour begins, so that schedule a few options for your shoot after baby then arrives.

Your session fee includes :

On-call :  Starting at 38 weeks I am on-call for your shoot, ready to schedule your shoot in my diary as soon as baby arrives.

Consultation : Phone consultation to plan your shoot and your wishlist of shots.

Shooting : 60 minute photo shoot at the place of delivery – be that hospital or home within 30 minutes of Midhurst, West Sussex

Private viewing : About 4 weeks after your shoot, at my studio in Midhurst at a time to best suit your schedule.

Images: About 20+ photographs all professionally edited for you to choose from
